Health and wellbeing

Display Screen Equipment

Where using Display Screen Equipment (DSE – otherwise known as a computer!) is a significant part of your work, the company will reimburse up to £25.00 towards the cost of your eye test and can contribute up to £50.00 towards the cost of prescribed spectacles.

Mental Health and Wellbeing advice centre

As well as training 1st Aid Mental Health First Aiders, we have an online resource and information centre that offers advice for good mental health and wellbeing as well as offering signposts for appropriate help.

DAS Service

A confidential counselling service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to you and members of your immediate family – providing they live with you and are over the age of 18 (or aged between 16 and 18 and in full-time employment).

Wellbeing Day

As well as your annual leave allocation, all colleagues are entitled to an additional 1 day a year for you to book a Wellbeing Day to do with whatever you want!

Disability Leave

As part of a range of reasonable adjustments that can be made in recognition of a disability, the company operates a Disability Leave policy that is separate from Sickness Absence.

Financial benefits

Pension

Realise Futures has two pension schemes:

  • The Pension Trust. This staff pension scheme was introduced in late 2014 and is offered to all personnel in non-teaching roles. The Pension Regulator has set a minimum contribution of employer and employee contributions.
  • Teachers Pension Scheme. This scheme is open to those colleagues whose main purpose of their role is for the planning and delivery of learning opportunities i.e. Tutors, Senior Tutors etc. Employer contribution rates are currently set at 23.68%.

Salary review

The company operates a performance related pay increase system as part of its Appraisal process. Where relevant, performance can be assessed as exceeding what could be expected and a recommendation for progression to the next pay point can be made.

Travel Expenses

Realise Futures pays the maximum business mileage rate that His Majesty’s Revenue Collectors (HMRC) allow for the first 10,000 miles:  0.45p for cars, 0.24p for motorcycles and 0.20p for cycles.

Recognition & Rewards

As part of the Appraisal process, line managers can recommend either an Appreciation Award (set at £100 per individual OR a Team Contribution Award (set at £500, to be distributed across the nominated team members) as a ‘thank you’ to colleagues who demonstrate a great attitude or significantly contribute to the success of the company.

Bonus scheme for referral of employees

A ‘thank-you’ voucher for £100 is awarded to colleagues who ‘refer a friend’ where that friend is successful in any recruitment process.

Annual Colleague Awards

There are 6 categories where colleagues are nominated by their colleagues. A commemorative plaque and certificate are awarded as part of the Annual General Meeting Celebrations.

Family related leave and flexible working arrangements

As a mindful employer, the company recognises that colleagues will experience the ups and downs of family life. Family, Bereavement & Carers leave will be considered as additional to annual leave entitlement. The company also offers flexible working arrangements where business needs allow.

Annual Leave

Realise Futures sets annual leave entitlements at 25 days (pro rata for part-time colleagues) for those with less than 3-years’ service, rising to 28 days (pro rata for part-time colleagues) for those with more than 3-years’s service. Unlike some employers, Realise Futures adds Bank/public holidays to the annual allocation and all bank/public holidays are paid.

Holiday trading

You can buy additional annual leave (where business permits and with the express permission of the line manager) or sell annual leave days (where you have taken at least 20 days annual leave in any one annual leave year).

Cycle to work scheme

Colleagues can purchase a bike at significantly reduced rates where the bike will be the main choice of transport to and from work.
