Summary
Develop your confidence and skills in the three areas of maths: number, measure and data.
Outcomes
Work on functional maths activities to help you in everyday situations, like helping your children with their homework, calculating DIY materials and managing your household budget. You will gain qualifications that can help improve your job prospects and/or lead on to further learning. You will work in small, friendly groups at your own pace and be offered an individual learning programme that is suited to your needs:
- Non-accredited learning (no exams)
- Unit qualifications/awards/certificates (portfolio work)
- Principles in maths (exams)
- Functional skills maths (exams)
You will take part in a range of activities in small groups or pairs and individual work. You will be expected to attend every week. There will be regular checks to ensure you are progressing. There will be home learning to be done between sessions. Please bring with you a pen, pencil and A4 lined note pad. Any other equipment or resources you may require will be discussed in your first session.
Progression
You can progress from this course on to another maths course, working to further improve your skills and can continue with us from Entry Level up to Level 2. If you have achieved Level 2, you can progress onto other courses within our provision or on to further education.

Entry requirements
- Aged 19 or over
- You do not have a level 2 qualification in the subject (i.e. GCSE grade A-C equivalent)
