Summary

The Level 2 Certificate in Health and Care will equip all learners with the fundamental skills and knowledge, to embark on a rewarding and successful career in the Health and Care industry.


Synopsis

Building on the knowledge that you have learnt at Level one; the Level 2 will enable learners to apply for a broad range of jobs across the Health and Care industry.

Upon successful completion of the certificate, the roles you could apply for, include Health Care Assistants, Support workers, Childcare worker, occupational therapy assistant, physiotherapy assistants, Speech, and Language therapist assistant and more.

The Health and Care industry is one of the fastest growing sectors in the UK. The course will develop your knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide exceptional standards of care to adults and children who access health and care services.

Throughout the course, you will receive dedicated one-to-one support, advice, and coaching from your tutor on developing a range of employability skills which are considered vital for working across the health and care industry.

Upon successfully completing the Level 2 Certificate, learners will have a range of options to choose from, such as: applying for an apprenticeship, study a health and care course at Level three, and apply for employment. All sessions will be delivered using Microsoft teams, which offers a unique flexibility, allowing you to complete the course from the comforts of your own home. Learners will be able to book in one-to-one tutorials with the course tutor, who can offer tailored advice and guidance to help all learners fulfil their true potential. The course will consist of six units, which will be delivered using a blended learning approach to ensure we meet the needs of all learners on the course. The assessment for the course will consist of an e-portfolio, which will be broken down into individual assignments that learners will be completing on a weekly basis. All learners will be required to successfully complete the e-portfolio by the end of the course, to gain the certificate.


Outcomes

  • Discuss the importance of promoting equality and inclusion in day-to-day practice in health and care settings, and how this can be achieved.
  • Develop an understanding around the jobs and career pathways in the health and social care sector. Also, to consider the skills and qualifications needed for different areas of work in the industry.
  • Understand the autistic spectrum condition. You will be able to identify behaviours that are associated with the condition and how to support individuals using a range of support methods.
  • Identify the causes of a stroke and develop an understanding around how to support patients and their families during the recovery period.
  • Develop an understanding of learning disabilities and the importance of effective communication for the individual.
  • Identify different conditions that could affect elderly people and consider different types of support they may need. Develop an understanding around how to communicate effectively with elderly people, focusing on how to support people with communication impairments, such as a hearing difficulty.

Progression

Following on from the successful completion of the course, you will be able to apply for qualifications (Level three and above), jobs and apprenticeship opportunities within the Health and Care industry.
